The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
My son just got out of treatment 2 weeks ago went to his graduation things seemed good but today he doesn't answer any calls . He is in a 3/4 home I really feel since he has not replied to any of my calls he is using again, I just don't think I can go thru this again.
Welcome and you are not alone. I hope you will find an alanon meeting or something in your area that will offer you face to face support. It makes all of the difference in the world. Watching loved ones destroy themselves is not an easy thing to do, it's not about what they do to us it's really about being able to see that they do it to themselves and finding our own serenity in the depths of an insane situation. It does get better and I hope you will keep coming back.
Hugs P :)

Hey there ISMP, WELCOME here! and HUGS to you :) You are in the right place. Alanon is for anyone who has an addict in the family. Books that have helped me: One Day at a time in alanon, Courage to change, As we understood..., Getting Them Sober, and the book Beautiful Boy by David Sheff (Not alanon, but he talks about his son's addiciton and how he went to alanon and it worked for him). Going to alanon meetings, open AA or open NA meetings, going to ACOA for me, and coming on this board, all helped me to get a sponsor to help me work the steps. You didn't cause him to use, you can't cure his addiction and you can't CONTROL it at all, ever ever ever... Keep coming, try meetings and remember its for you to recover from the family disease of addiction. You are not alone! Take care of you :)

I'm glad you found this board and hope you use it as needed. There are a great many members who are so willing to share their ESH (experience, strength & hope) with us. You'll find that we are all at varied stages of our recoveries and have leaps of growth as well as some temporary setbacks now and then.
Reading prior posts will likely be beneficial. In addition, attending Al-Anon meetings would be, over time, extremely helpful.
If you haven't tried meetings yet, I invite you to find one nearby as soon as possible. Be sure to leave your preconceived notions of Al-Anon at the door if they are negative. Go in, find a chair, and sit down with an open mind. Do this for at least 6 meetings. It took about 7 to 10 meetings for me before I became somewhat eager to go to my next meeting.
In my homegroup, there are several parents with either teens or young adult children who are active in their addictions. I've seen them come in quite distraught and week by week, they are beginning to see things differently and even laugh and smile.
Perhaps it's time for you to give meetings a try. Looking forward to your future posts. Again, welcome.
Gail
