Old me would have gotten upset, yelled, and possibly followed him around trying to calm him down. Today I remained on the couch, silent, listening to him berate me as he left the house, jumped in the truck and left with a burn out that left an approx 30 ft skid mark. I'm learning that I can only control me and my reactions. I am also learning that the most innocent questions will set him off.

I'm also ignoring the endless texts I an now getting from him that are berating me. I love how I can set his custom ringtone to silent. It makes it so much easier to ignore these outbursts.

Thanks everyone.

I will keep an eye open and will not hesitate to call the police if he gets abusive towards me or anything in the house. I carry my cell phone everywhere just in case. He is currently staying/sleeping in his man cave at night since our neighbors called the police last week during one of his outbursts. He had to spend the night away from the family home because of the DV call.
