A few days ago my moostiff developed a limp, his back leg was weak. I kept him on an easy schedule and everything seemed to be going well while we waited for the vet appointment today. Last night his leg swelled to an amazing size and his lymph nodes were hugely swollen. We went to the furry ones ER where we eliminated most everything except advanced lymphoma. Unless a miracle happens today at the vet I will choose to show my love by letting go quickly. i won't ask another canine companion to endure those treatments just for me. I ask for your prayers for his comfort and peace no matter the outcome.
Stepping onto a brand-new path is difficult, but not more difficult than remaining in a situation, which is not nurturing to the whole woman.- Maya Angelo
one of my dogs hurt her paw/back leg a while ago. I looked on the internet and various people suggested resting for 3 weeks. I did that. It was torture, I felt so bad for my poor dog.
Don't jump the gun it could be something else. My dogs leg swelled up pretty badly and it was a bad fall.
Thank you for your prayers. The emergency vet's findings were conformed by Sully's own vet today. He passed very peacefully this afternoon after suffering only a short period of pain and showing his spirit by bringing joy to everyone we met on the journey to the office. I am not up to relating the story but I know all of his supporters thoughts and prayers were responsible for the many little miracles that happened today.

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another! ~ Anatole France
oh no jen!!! sitting here crying with you! I am so so sad.
oh honey, I know how much you loved and adored him. I wish I could come help you in some way!
He was and is so loved still. I am so sad you are hurting! Horribly hard decision. Very unselfish one too.
Jen you know that when my Fergus Basset was stolen, some wonderful breeder told me to come up and pick a puppy. I was NOT Into it.
But Jen it taught me how it can help us heal. Its a tribute to how much we loved our friend/companian.I never would have thought it. Tavish is so much my heart, and I tell ya Fergus lives on thru him.
It filled the space, did not take the place. What can I do for you jen?
so much love for you and the sweet, big ole Moose. your friend, debilyn

(((((Jen)))))) I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad there was minimal suffering. Your moostiff knew how much he was loved. Wish I could find words to comfort.
Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you. I am a huge dog lover myself and your story brought tears to my eyes. Our dogs are members of the family and loving, loyal companions even if they drool, have bad breath, and track mud in the house. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Thank you all. Your thoughts and prayers are what is helping hold me up during those one second at a time moments.
Don't worry Deb. There are a few others who are ready to start me thinking about a puppy in my hands. I know my moostiff is one of them. He could not stand me to be unattended. Since I managed to get a sinus infection and break my toe in less than 24 hours I think Sully is whispering in some ears .. "Hurry up and get her a watcher/blocker/drooler ... you guys all thought I was lazy, you don't have a clue what I did every day". A little time to let go and heal the toe before another set of heavy paws start walking all over me in every way possible. I am a better person when I belong to a gentle giant.
And you know Sully has really good friends ... last night an american bulldog stayed over, and tonight an english bulldog is here, was visited by a little teddybear puff and this weekend his most special puppyhood sweetheart will visit, Little Miss Smartypants. Mr Bugg OSullivan loved her very very much and she him.
