Betsy the wonder dog is sick, Parvo no less. Caught it early, I hope, had a shot but..... well, she's got it. Pretty sick dog, still alert right now, they said its gonna get worse before it gets better, lots of bodily fluids to clean up - grin and bear it because, well, she's my baby. I have IV fluids to give her, penicillin and an anti-vomit med too. Think happy thoughts for her, ok? Gonna be a rough weekend I think.

You may want to read up on it so you understand what is going on. MUST keep her hydrated, warm. She needs to be supported until this horrible virus does what it does. My brother gave his dog raw egg in the sides of her mouth.
The key is gotta keep her organs going. I am so sorry she is so sick. She will really need you to be there for her, not a time to leave her alone.
Wish i could help you! love, deb

Update on Betsy: She's still with us, actually I think she is doing quite well. Not eating, but no longer messing on herself and seems interested in the smell of food. I did get her to lick some from a dish this morning by letting the cat approach the dish, territorially defending her food even though she doesn't want it, kinda cute/funny! She's probably tired of me poking her with needles (can't say I'm fond of the task either). Very good to see her ears picked up; will be better to see her bounce again. Last night I was trying to find a good picture of her to show you all what she looks like but I don't have any because they are all blurry because she usually moves too fast! I'll try to get one of her before she starts bouncing again. Cheers!
PS - I just took this pic of her, hope it has attached ok!

How is Betsy doing? That's a sweet picture of her. That's a positive sign that she is interested in the smell of food and even licked a little bit from the dish. And the fact that she picked up her ears is encouraging. It's so hard that our animal friends can't talk to us and tell us when they are hurting and what they need. They do it through body language instead. For what it's worth, a friend of mine adopted a dog who it was soon discovered had parvo. With lots of care and attention (and luck) he pulled through. It sounds as if you are well armed with fluids, meds, etc. Sending happy, positive thoughts your way. Please keep us posted.
