I am a pretty healthy person, generally. Nothing is usually physiologically wrong with me, I have some mental things like PTSD (anxiety, panic attacks, depression) and I have worked on that a lot. Now I found out that what the doctor thought was carpal tunnel is actually arthritis of the wrists and thumb. That the ulnar nerve is bothering my pinkies (tingling sensation) which the elbow is responsible for. I am sad because I use my hands for my regular job and for my photography. I need my hands. As far as I know there is nothing you can do about arthritis, it just is. My grandma and mom both have this its genetic. My gram is 85, she got it in her 30's and my mom is almost 60 and she too started in her 30's. I am 36...
I am trying to not be on the pity pot, and let my HP help me here, and remembering that he will see me through this.
I need my hands though, and I am not sure what to do. I have the actual appointment next week for the doctor to go over the results, he is a hand, wrist and elbow specialist in orthopedics.
Just need some prayer and support... thanks all!

Prayers your way ! I know just how you feel due ti herinated discs one sitting on a root nerve I lose sensation of my shoulder, arm amd hand on a regular basis. I am on disability but before i stopped working it interfered a lot with my job as i was one the computer much of the time. I have no insurance at this point. But if you do they can do surgery for carpal tunnel, I am not sure of the success rate. But know you aren't alone... I pray they are able to find a solution to your problem. I will tell you I do a lot better when i wear a wrist brace so you may want to buy one of those, your fingers will still be functional it just keeps your wrist straight and the pain and numbness a little less. Prayers and blessings your way
Thank you both :) I am glad its not carpal tunnel, even though at least that would have been a quick surgery... Someone said to try a gluten free diet for arthritis. Hmmm... My sponsor does this diet and she said it takes a little practice but it works... OH I do wear the wrist braces at night...

For my arthritis, I take high-quality Fish Oil supplements, one to 4 daily, but usually one does the trick.
I have fears about my health too. But in step 3, I have made the decision to turn my will and my life over to the CARE of God.... for this to actually work for me, I must believe that my Higher power really does care for me. Then I am free.
When life didn't work out the way I wanted it to work out, something better evolved every time.

You've got the prayers coming your way. What gives me hope is to remember that God is still in the miracle business. Take this one day at a time my friend. We are here for you in love and support.

You are telling my story! My hands would hurt so bad I would stick them in the warm pig cereal I made them! Now that feels soooo good!
What I did asap is get on an anti inflammatory way of eating. All whole grain rices and lentils, barley. I already had quit meat. No dairy, sometimes eggs. Lots of water. Take vitamin D and calsium and a good multi.
began stretching them all the time. Sometimes a finger hurts so bad to just be touched!
But since I cut so many things and now for a month plus NO cookies or cake pie nothing in my cabin! I make fruit salads, eat frozen fruit, low syrup canned stuff.
It does help. We need to keep our tendons and muscle etc healthy as our joints break down they have to work harder. I have torn mine too many times. Have had eight or more surgeries.
It does help to move them. If you are going to be prone to it, I am telling you keep active. swim ride a bike, walk hike. I was stupid I put up fences, carried in bales of hay and many huge bags of feed. I though I am exercising I was tearing up my body.
It is hard to face. i was so depressed as I was super super busy. Hardly ever sat! plus had to stop working at what I loved! I cannot take nsaids either, hate narcotics the strongest one lasted ONE hour. so forget that too.
I have learned to focus from the pain or accept it and moan and groan! lol But i never complain or feel why me. it just "is." At least I have my body, at least I can walk again without crutches or my cane!
you have every right to your feelings. please come vent anytime. When I first was so miserable I came here and unloaded. many times as you can see I don't cap things as my little fingers are twisted and may hurt.
thats why I cannot spell sometimes too! lol well it was worth a shot.....(c: I miss hiking, skiing, riding a bike, riding a horse, bucking hay, painting, being able to hold my book comfortably when I read at night. But it does not make me bitter.
Part of why I moved to this one room cabin is I can keep up with it. I have a big cage onmy floor with guinea pigs in it. I laugh watching them, they are so funny. Out my slider I see the birds I feed, chipmunks squirrels geese, a bald eagle flies by too! My dogs keep me warm and I got a kitten who is just freaking insane!! She is always going and attacks the dogs so I watch them.
Life goes thru changes. It is how it is.But I am telling you, if we look at our hearts and find what we love, we can make things very serene and happy.
easy hugs oh and ps I quit shaking hands cuz omg one guy, he was a homeless guy about broke my hand! I am not kidding...lol debilyn

I`am sorry you are going through this at such a young age. I too can relate to pain. Although older than you, I have been suffering with severe face and head pain (nerve pain) on a daily basis for approximately 12 years now. I know how difficult it can be to live with daily pain. I`am glad your asking you HP for help with this. Although the pain has not gone away for me having an HP has helped me. Sometimes I do get on the pity pot and I think thats normal. Don`t beat yourself up if you do. Pain has taken away a good portion of my life. One needs to go through a grieving process however and whenever it comes along, if you are loosing any part of your life due to illness. I hope you can find relief for the pain. Be open to alternative practices if medicine isn`t helping. I will be sending you positive thoughts and healing thoughts too.
Thanks all :) Debi, you are funny, I would love to come see your cabin :) How cool, just what I always imagined myself in, something like that...thats my "happy place" that I go to in my mind! LOL... So cool. I will keep moving, I know, use it or lose it. I am going to try to get my butt in gear and do some yoga again. And forget having narcotics in the house, I don't want them around me. I had a little problem with them at one time and became itchy everytime I took one. Now even, years later, I get itchy from them, which means I am addicted and I don't want them at all! LOL...
Thanks Samsgram! :) I am going to try to look into the gluten free diet. My sponsor told me about it. Supposed to help... And we already have fruit smoothies, fish oil, and salads at night...
again, thanks all :)

In addition to the other suggestions, I find that ground flax seed is very helpful. I sprinkle it on salads, rice, oatmeal, and in fruit smoothies. I find that practicing yoga routinely helps me tremendously.
Sorry to hear about your wrists! Hopefully, you will find something that will alleviate the pain! Keep the faith.
Just thought I'd add that if you decide to use flax seed, you can also put the ground seeds in applesauce or mix them in peanut butter to spread on your toast or bread. Google "flax seed" to learn how beneficial these seeds can be.
Also, I'd like to say that I have practiced yoga for more years than I can count. I come from a good gene pool; however, I do think that my practice has kept me very healthy, limber and strong. I'm 56 and still going strong. I have several friends with a lot of aches and pains, but I can't get them to join me.
Any form of exercise will do. What's important is that it makes you happy.
