Norma, Keep coming back, we are a friendly bunch. I've only met one member of MIP in person, talked to quite a few on the phone, sent PM's to a lots, but feel like I know them all. Nothing can replace f2f meetings, that's a fact, but MIP to me comes close in its own way, the next best thing. In Al-Anon you can piick up the phone and call a friend. On MIP you can post on the board, PM a friend, or go to the chat room for a chat or an online meeting.

The answer to your question is a solid........YES.

Hugs,
RLC

Yes, I agree with RLC in that we are a motley crew here on MIP.  The connections I feel here are similar in regard to that we have one thing in common, being affected by the family disease of alcoholism.  We support one another on this board in the same way we do in the meetings.   There is a member on here that by process of elimination we discovered we lived in the same city and her Alanon group is my home away from home when I cant make it to my meetings.  So we know the same people which is funny having that connection in cyberspace.

I think it is the tremendous love for one another that binds us together.  I am grateful for this resource because it really saved my butt when I was new in the program.

xoxo,

Tommye

I think it's quite possible that you can nurture a connection with MIP members.  I value MIP because many of its members have helped me over some scary bumps in the road.

YES! I have no F2F meetings to attend where I live but this message board and the online meetings have been a lifesaver for me. I've gotten to know a few of the members through PMs and phone calls in addition to their posts on here. I have a definite connection even though I've never met any of these people in person. Keep coming back, I'm sure you'll feel the same love and support.
