Hugs and welcome, you are in the right spot, alanon is about taking back the power of your own life (even if you are no longer living with the A the damage is there) and letting loved ones, if they are active drinkers or not be responsible for their own choices, while loving them anyway. There is a wealth of information on the boards and wonderfully supportive people as well. I hope you will keep coming back. :)

Lozza,

Hi and welcome.  I wanted to follow up on Pushka's back and encourage you to stick around for awhile.  We are not a glum lot.  I hope you find strength and support here reading the posts.  Please introduce yourself, we would like to get to know you a little bit better.

Best,

Tommye

Welcome to MIP! I can relate and it took me many years of counseling and to see my parents and what they came from. Al-anon has taught me how to dettach with love and compassion, but it all takes time. Thanks for posting and keep coming back. Have you made it to meetings or found any Al-anon literature? That has been such a help in my journey.
