A family needs our love

Just heard today that one of my Asons major enablers, drinking companion, has died of this hellish disease. He is a year older than my son (35) and he comes from the same small village we live in, they went to school together but they only got together last year through the disease...both homeless living in a town away from their loved ones.

This poor guy had been in a coma all week.

I know his Mum well, she's a very private person and has never mentioned her sons addiction.

Please wrap her and her family tightly with your MIP love.

((((((K & family))))))

RE: A family needs your love

I am so sad to hear this dear lady.

I will send a prayer. I know from experience that is what gets us thru that part of life.

Will keep your son and you in my thoughts too. He is not going to accept it well. I saw my AH go thru a good friend, his dad, his best friend, then his brother since he relapsed.

Of course they do not gain anything when they drink/use thru the grief they need toheal.

So when he would go off drinking for awhile, It all hit him soooo hard, had to grieve them all and more. Well he lost me too. Sometimes I forget that.

It all catches up to them. You are one of the kindest people Ness. I love  it when you say village.

Hugs hon,debilyn

Will do.  I believe in the power of prayer and will send some her way.

Dear Ness

Words cannot describe the pain and sadness that accompany this disease.

I will include this young man and his family in my prayers and light a candle when I walk out today.

My prayers are with the family of the boy who died, and with you and your son Ness.

I can't even imagine the grief and agony his family will go through.

I can't change anything, but I can put more energy and effort into being a solid example of compassion and understanding to everyone I meet, who you never know may  be struggling with the disease of alcoholism.

RE: A family needs our love

I went to the boy's funeral  yesterday, his Mum was humble, courageous, dignified...... broken.

Her son, while struggling with his own addiction, was the one that brought my own son home last year...as he feared he was going to lose his life...

The irony is not lost on me .....

My son phoned last night, hes just become 'sober' and aware enough to realise his friend had died.....

The whole lot sucks....and I'm grateful for the strength I find in the Al-anon programme to keep me going....day at a time

I wish peace for her, her son......for all of us.

((((hugs))))
