The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I have a document file that I keep on my computer and everytime I read something on this board, or hear something at one of my Alanon meetings, that really inspires me or that I don't want to forget, I copy and paste, or add, the statement into my document. That way, I can always refer back to it when I'm feeling down, angry, lonely, or weak.
This really helps me to stay on course with my recovery and I even refer to it when my AH is trying to manipulate my on the phone or by email. It helps me to use the right language and to stay the course in my recovery.
If I could add one more to it - that is a great place to store your 'journal' as well, for the same reasons - wonderful reference to help you deal with the rollercoaster of highs and lows that we go through during this stuff.... Journalling your thoughts and feelings, on a daily basis, is also ultra-important...

I too do that and keep some little nuggets of wisdom in an large word document. I think I am on page 53. What I discovered was that I was writing down little notes from face to face meetings, stuff my sponsor said, speaker tapes, program literature, and things from here on random sheets of paper in an unorganized unusable format. That made no sense to me. So this spring, we had a week of ice storms where I began my journey of putting the paper in a large box and typing them out. Now, I have some lovely things to refer to and when I reread them it sends me laughing and right back to the place that I heard them from.
It mostly contains excerpts from posts on here, plus some info from links that I found helpful.

I keep 2 documents open in the bottom tray and save them by year and month. One is for things I cut and paste and the other is for my journal. To go back and read my journal lets me see where I have been and where I am going.

I found some stuff that I saved from 2003. So informative to me now. Not that the issues have changed, but I think I have. All those meetings and the tools of the program have changed me.
