Hi Chinup

What a wonderful daughter . She has given you a great gift. A trip to England and a visit with her How special.

The airports in Canada are clean, efficient and well run There are many airports in the country so if you know the airport that you are landing at, you can get all the details on the Internet . Just type in the name of the airport or the location and all the information will be there. Just remember all airports have travelers assistance . If you become confused there is always someone there to help you. Just like in alanon, all we need to d is ask for help.

You will do fine Take your alanon literature, remember the slogans, do it One Day at a Time and HAVE FUN!!!!!l

oh wow what a nice gift!! :) I just flew air canada a few weeks ago - back and forth between a few cities in Canada. The airports are, as Betty said, well run and organized. If you don't know where to go or what to do - there is always someone standing around waiting to help and point you in the right direction.

Just don't forget your passport! :)

Have a great trip!!

I will echo hotrod - tell the flight attendants, make sure people know you are nervous - most of my flying experience has been positive. I once was flying from a small airport with a teenager and a small baby - the flight was cancelled due to mechanical malfunction and those without so much baggage all darted to the counter to re-book their flight - i didn't even try, figured I would go back home and fly out the next day, nothing really i could do, I could NOT compete with those able to hurry to get first in line - i was last in line. But - when I got to the counter the ticket agent said, don't worry, I got you booked on the next flight out before I booked anybody else, here's some meal vouchers, go relax in the restaurant until your flight. WOW! I was floored and completely overwhelmed by the care they had taken of me - I assume it was the kids I had with me, I just thought it was about the most wonderful moment I'd experienced. They also had a golf cart meet us at the plane to get me to my connecting flight. Be sure to relay your fears to whomever you think needs to hear them, they WANT you to have a nice flight and no worries. My bestest advice - don't let anyone rush you - take the time to enjoy every thing you can - I have enjoyed a lot of great conversation sitting in the plane waiting for those numbskulls who have to stand up before the plane stops moving thinking it will get them there faster - don't be in a hurry, enjoy the people around you. AND - I am so jealous - you get to fly, it is such a charge when the airplane takes off, like being on a roller coaster climbing the first big hill, but no roller coaster - i don't care much for those! its exhilariating to fly - and ENGLAND! I'm double jealous - enjoy enjoy enjoy!

I suspect that you will be connecting through Pearson airport in Toronto as that has been my departure point for any flights I've taken to the UK.

Pearson is huge, it has 3 terminals.  The nice part is that if all of your flights are Air Canada, they have their own terminal so you won't have to switch.  As an inbound flight from the US and the outbound to England are both considered "international", you'll probably be in the same area for both.

Regardless, the airport is well staffed so there will be lots of people around to ask if you have any difficulties.  My biggest complaint (as with any airport) is that food and beverages tend to be very overpriced.

Hope you have a lovely trip!

I have always had a wonderful experience with flying. I remember when I started on trips alone. I flew to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and around the U.S. alone by myself starting at 21. I look back now and say, gosh, I must have been crazy that could have been dangerous. But everything was o.k. I was nervous just like you. I found that by talking to strangers on my flights that God always sat me next to kind human beings. I always said I was new to this airport or this country and was nervous about trying to get to my next flight. On many occasions I had to take a train to another area and other passengers walked me to the train, made sure I got on the right one or directed me to the right terminal where I needed to be. I have missed an international flight due to weather and was stranded in LA overnight. I was very scared. I had no bags as I checked them and no cell phone at the time. The airline put me up in a hotel near the airport and I met a kind person who showed me around LA the next day as the next flight was 10 PM the next night. We had lunch and it was really nice.

It really helped me to reach out to others as people still care and want to help another person in this world. It worked for me, perhaps it will for you.

Have a nice trip.
