Aloha all...I was surprised when the UPS guy came and dropped off a box for my spouse who is the PI person for the district and the Literature person for our home group.  The new paperback, large print (yay!!) version of the Al-Anon big book was there and guess what...what?...It's only 5 bucks.  That is the least expensive piece of literature outside of pamphlets that I've seen.  It's even cheaper than the hard cover version we have in the house from way back when.

Check it out...get your own copy...read it cover to cover...help others with it especially those who would like to have the serenity you now enjoy.

My home group is going to buy a bunch of them -- we're considering giving them to newcomers after they attend a certain number of meetings.

That book was one of the first pieces of CAL that I read.  I have the hardcover version.  I think of it as the Al-Anon bible.

I adore that book.  It really is the backbone of the program for me.  Second has to be Paths to recovery.  Will be great to get my new copy of How it works.

I just got a box of them last weekend.  We all need to purchase them.  If there is a lot of interest in them they will keep printing them that way!!!  Great book, fantastic price!!!

Where can you purchase this book for $5.00 ?

I just checked Amazon.com and their prices were quite above five dollars.  There are 1995 editions that are considered "collectibles."  They are between $28 - 54.

All - the paperback edition is new. It's not likely available on Amazon yet.

This inexpensive printing of How Al-Anon Works is primarily meant as a public outreach piece - that it's $5 is to make it easy for newcomers to purchase, or for groups to decide to purchase in bulk and either hand out or do as they see fit.
