...as I shared at my F2F meeting today, I am the kind of person who would start off a call to 911 with "I'm sorry to bother you, but my house is on fire"... I'm really not good at asking for things I need.
Recently I posted here about asking a manager at work not to schedule me for overtime on a certain day any more... much to my relief, I have finally heard back from him about that, and he's fine with it.
OK, maybe it's not the biggest most earth-shattering news ever, but to me, it's going to make a huge difference getting to go to sleep early after a week of 10-hour shifts... so challenging my fears by asking for something I needed turned out to be very much worth it!
Thank you all for your reassurance and support with this!
See...It works when you work it. I relate to your 911 call share Atheos...at least I use to before I was taught that they are there to serve and I need to reach out. practice, practice, practice. You done good. (((hugs)))
Good for you..congrats!!! :) I relate...oh boy do I ever... and I've recently asked for several things and stood up for myself in a number of situations...all turning out positive. At first it was incredibly hard and uncomfortable and anxiety inducing...now, it's easier. :)
