New and hosting my own pity party

Hello all!

I am new to the forum.  I typed "pity party" and "al-anon" into my search engine and here I am.

I am so terribly frustrated today.  My husband sat on the couch all morning and didn't do a thing to help with the kids.  I cleaned and took care of them and then he announced that he wanted to take my son out to the local amusement park... grrrr... now that I am writing it out it seems silly, and that is why it is so helpful to have you all here.

Thank you for letting me verbalize my "crazy"...

Welcome!

It always bugs me when someone says their husband is "babysitting" the kids.WHAT??? there are HIS kids!

It helps to have conversations about the dividing of chores in the house. Kids too need chores and boundaries.

One thing I learned here is, "we teach others how to treat us."

I am soooooo glad you are here. You will learn so much and your life will feel so much better!

hugs,debilyn

Fordsmom,

I can't say I've been in your situation, becaues not only am I not a woman, I'm also not married, and I dont have kids either.

Use this forum as a tool to build empowerment in you. You deserve better than that. You know that, and so do we.

It doesn't seem silly at all that it frustrates you. It's valid that it does, and it's OK.

We're here to support you. Be strong.

-Dan

I must say, I love your topic post. It put a smile on my face because I too have been there, hosting my own pity party. I think you are in the right place, so welcome. I am so glad you are here!

As for crazy, you are not crazy, you are doing the best you can in a crazy situation. Having children and taking care of a household is difficult work.

I hope your husband takes all of the kids to the amusement park and you can have some quiet time to yourself today on Mother's Day.

Keep coming back
TC

I too am having a pity party today but trying my hardest to focus on the positive... My husband set the alarm to get up to make me breakfast which woke me up along with the kids and he fell back asleep. He got up 1hr later, cooked us breakfast and then left for the entire day to go golfing after he had asked me to be back early originally from plans I had made to have breakfast with my own mother which I cancelled because I thought the plans he was making were for us all to go do something. Guess I found out quickly today those plans were for him to go golfing... Stupid me for thinking he would actually make plans for something other than himself... I feel so stupid and under appreciated today. Trying to be positive that I was made breakfast but it's so hard to be "ok" with the selfishness when us moms get but 1 days a year and it's too much to get to enjoy my day. I'm also working on not "expecting" things from people that they cannot provide, but in the mean time, I am having a pity party myself. Best wishes that we can turn our bad day into a good one and enjoy it with our kiddos.
