hes not coming

I rang my sober ex ABf once I carmed down.  I told him I was experiencing a hard time looking at me he understood as he is in recovery.  I told him it was not personal but I was not strong enough for him to come to my sons 18th.  He said o.k.  I said I will most prob contact you when I do step nine afet making amends to myself he will be the next on my list I apologised for any hurt I have caused him and said good bye.  He the txt good night, good luck and BYe I did not respond.  It hurts but I really do have to get out of this toxic relationship and learn how to love and care for myself I am not well. thanx

That took great courage Tracy, placing your needs above anyone else. I have learned in Alanon and from my sponsor that you cannot access the joy unless you are willing to walk through the pain. Its not easy, but it is worth it.

Thank you for sharing.

Dear Tracy, I am not making any sort of implication as I do not know the details, but I do have a question--if I am not being too invasive.  How are the boys processing this.  Are they very bonded with him? Or each other?  I know that boys of that age don't always verbalize highly emotional material.

In any case, I know it takes guts to do what you are doing.

Respectfully, Otie.  You go, girl!
