Second meeting tonight...A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!

I went to my second meeting tonight, my first "beginner's meeting". I am just amazed at how wonderful this is. While it's hard to work through my emotions, because I am used to being "the strong one", the people I've already met so far have been beyond amazing. I spoke tonight...I didn't Monday. I read some, and when we went around in the circle I talked about why I was there and what I hoped to get out of Al-Anon. After the meeting, one of the girls gave me her number and we went and had coffee. She was awesome! We went to Borders so after coffee, she pointed out some of the books that have really helped her and told me about some of the meetings around here that are really good. I truly feel like I made a new friend and I am so happy about that.

When you go to a meeting is completely up to you, but if and when you do, you will be so happy you did! Find the courage if you can...it's very much worth it!

Lori,

I am happy for you. Great ES&H for any newcomer who comes to the Miracle In Progress board. This program has a lot to offer and you are putting your best foot forward. I'm smiling !

HUGS,
RLC

Hey Lori!  Woo Hoo!

Very happy for you!

I went to my 3rd meeting last night and I looked around the room a lot (discreetly looking at people's faces).  The " oldtimers" were the ones who had pleasant looks on their faces, some even who are living with an active alcoholic.

One thing I especially like about the meetings I've been to is that it's a place with their are no pretenses.  The masks come off.  I like that.  It's a place where you can admit you'd screwed up and still feel unconditional love.

Please keep us updated on how meetings are going for you.

What an awesome post.... resisting all urges to scream "I toldya so", but instead will say the (much more appropriate) "WELL DONE".  :)

Take care

Tom

So glad you did it and now it has begun! I have done so many self help books and counseling, but nothing has helped me like the people in Al-anon meetings. I am proud of you for taking the leap and sooo glad it went well right off the get!
