Living with an active alcoholic is like living with an elephant sitting on my chest. It is crushing and heart-breaking.
Through Al-Anon, my elephant has gone on a diet and lost a lot of weight.
This past week, though, my elephant went off his diet and started crushing me again. So, I turned to my AH (notice I turned to AH, not my HP): I KNEW if I could make my AH do what I WANTED, then my elephant would lose weight again. EVERYONE knows it is my AH's fault for feeding the elephant all those extra peanuts--or so my thinking went.
My AH IS NOT responsible for my elephant. I AM! And no matter how much I ask, beg, plead, cry, or throw tantrums, my AH does not have the ability to remove my elephant. The only thing that helps my elephant's diet is Al-Anon and me working my steps, listening and learning.
After last night's F2F meeting, my elephant felt lighter again. Now, I just gotta keep him on his diet.

LOL I was going to ask what you were feeding it since I have been on a diet for what seems like forever and can't seem to lose any weight. Then I realized you have to quit feeding the elephant in order for it to lose weight, kind of like my diet. Eat less Move more... LOL
