I have been to Al Anon before - years ago. It saved me. I was married to my husband for 30 years. Quite a history, you can imagine. The last 5 years he did not drink very much but he had given up on life. He dropped dead next to me with an abdominal aneurysm. Of course I am still mourning his loss.
My daughter moved back in with me 2 months ago. We have always been very close. I love her more than anything in the world. She's all I have. I knew she was depressed but I had no idea that she would sit in her room every nite and drink by herself. Her life as portrayed to me the past 4 years has been a big lie.
I just don't know if I have the strength to go through all of this again.
You know hotrod, when I first walked into an Alanon meeting with my daughter as an infant years ago, the first thing that hit me was that I was not alone. I will never forget that relief of knowing I was not alone.
I am so glad to be here. I just read dizbee's post.
This is my first step and I will continue to come here.
