Feeling so much better

I went to a f2f meeting on Saturday. I was nervous never having been to any kind of meeting like that before in my life. Everyone was very friendly and they didn't push which I was worried they would. It was so good to meet people who have had the same kinds of experiences. I am going to go back next week. It really helped me get my mind clear and helped reinforce my decisions with boundaries.

A bf has been working his program as well. He has been sober for 5 days. A bf has apologized for his behavior. I told him I would see him only if he is sober. We have plans to see each other Friday night for dinner to celebrate his birthday without alcohol.

I told A bf he has to stay at his place and although he doesn't like being there and would rather be with me, he respects my decision. My kids and I have settled into a nice routine and things are calm again on our home front. I feel so much better! I have been doing the things I missed while A bf was out of control like reading and talking to my girlfriends in the evenings. Life feels much more free.

I know that A bf has a long road ahead of him but I am cautiously optomistic. Maybe I am naive? Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and comfort.

((Hugs))

That's good news. I'm glad you enjoyed your first f2f meeting. You have only been in the program 7 days and you are taking your life back. It does my heart good to see a "Miracle In Progress".......... and it only gets better......... one step at a time.

HUGS,
RLC

I am trying to remember one day at a time and to focus on what I can control and learn to let go of what I cannot, giving those things over to HP. That is a hard lesson, I think, and I will probably have to keep re-learning it over and over!biggrin

Honeypie,

Nothing happens overnight, we have to keep putting one foot in front of another. Learning new ways and applying them takes practice, practice, practice. I spent lots of that practice "un-learning" all my old ways that hadn't been working for me.

Work the program like you eat and elephant....one bite at a time.

HUGS,
RLC

Proud of you. Your making good choices about what works for you. You have realized that you can design your own life.

We can make up our own rules and make serenity and a manageable life our priority.

Good for You! Keep workin it.

Luv, Bettina
