The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I am posting daily thoughts and such on a page about recovery-type things. This is for Al-Anon and AA people. I am looking for stories or tales about how people sometimes seek revenge but end up hurting themselves more than the person they were wanting to hurt. Or any other topic such as Letting Go and One Day at a Time.
I can think of a few...the movie mean girls. Oedipus Rex may be one. My partner who is Mr. Parable states that the story of Moses and the Pharoah is a good one.
Pinkchip - Thanks but, I am thinking more of a parable than a book or story. Something that would fit on an ODAAT daily reading page.
Bradley - that wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I also post a daily quote on another page. The link you gave me will give me plenty of great quotes for that.
The spiritual pain starts when the judgment and resentment starts...even before the planning starts on revenge. It's a sole/soul thing. Hurting others goes against our natural value systems; the "Do unto others..." philosophy and the "be loving, want loving" condition. For me that is. (((hugs)))
