Relapse

disbeliefDaughter has relapsed - child's father threatening to break up relationship - etc., etc., she just doesn't get it and i guess hasn't hit bottom yet - i am struggling with letting go and letting God!  I love her and my grandson and hate to see them struggling so much - just wish they could all see that addiction/alcoholism is a family disease but she is amid folks that just don't get that!  I have suggested al-anon to them but that is not something they seem to want - pray for us please - i have to let go and know that God is in control of it all!

((((Mary))))

Prayers are on the way!!!! I do hope you are attending Al Anon meetings in your community.

This is a heartbreaking disease over which we are all powerless.  Meetings, posting here, learning new tools to live by enabled me to survive the horrible effects of this disease on my family

I urge you to keep coming back and Welcome to MIP

Hi Mary,
my partner relapsed last year finally hit another rock bottom and went into rehab 6 months ago he is doing better than ever today.  At the time I supported him he knew he was loved but set my boundaries took care of me.  went to extra meetings , read more, picked up the phone to sponsor and other al anon people I through my es;lf into my recovery and tried to trust Hp it was hard to let go let god.  My partner today said he needed to relapse its like when you have that one cigerette and end back on 20 a day the next time you stop you understand how easy it is to just pick up again.  Alcoholism I now understand is a life long illness your daughter has a battle on her hands, all you can do is use your tools to protect your own sanity (its not selfish it actually helps her).  I pray my partners relapes was his last but I know today he can not promise this.  I try to stay i the day and trust Hp if he does slipp I will get straight to a meeting because that is where I will need to be.  as for others going to Al anon if they see you  coping thanks to al anon that is the best message they too have to experience enough  pain hit their own rock bottom.

hope thiss helps
