encouragement

Just started back up with college this semester. Did well last semester, two A's and a B in a really difficult class!!
I am no longer taking our daughter to visit her father who is an A. The environment is bad for all of us. He has to get high all the time so when we are there he leaves but comes back smelling like pot. I am beginning to see how his whole life revolves around it.
He sent me a text saying that he wanted to see his child. I told him that he was more than welcome to come to my home to visit her, but she would not be leaving with him.
I am scared that he will try to come get her and since he has court ordered visitation that I can't stop him from taking her and what if something happens to her?

I am waiting for a reply from a lawyer, and seeking to get legal aid because I have no money for a divorce and child custody. The present arrangements are from the atty gen which is a free service to set up child support and visitation.

He has been sending me text after text after text since 4 30 this morning.

If he shows up here high, sometimes I cannot tell, I will protect my daughter at all costs.

Just thankful for this message board. It seems his disease has been disturbed and has reared its ugly head at me. I know that I have choices to take care of me and I am not a victim. One day at a time.

(Kath)

You are taking care of yourself and your daughter, have no second thoughts. You are not punishing your husband.......you are doing the the next right thing, your daughters safety and well being should always be first and foremost.

Kath, you didn't need encouragement, all you needed was a HUG.

HUGS,
RLC

I am with you. Protect her at all costs.

If he has keys, change or add locks. Myself if he came to the door I would tell him to get off my property. If he did not I would call the police.

A person has to get off your property when you tell them to.

Instead of your home, maybe meet at a restaurant or other inside public place. That way he cannot take off with her.

Or have another person or two at your place if he will come to your house.

These are suggestions, NOT advice as I do not know what will work for you.

All I know is I believe strongly in protecting kids.

I am glad you shared with us. Let us know what goes on if you like. Its always good to see you posting. love, debilyn

Document what is going on with him. You might want witnesses there when he comes by to pick her up. I applaud your courage in setting these limits. Just want you to protect yourself and be in a better place for what may go down in the future.

Don't forget to just take a breath every so often and tell yourself "It will be okay." What you are going through is probably one of the hardest things you will do in your life. Be good to yourself.
