Hi all! My name is Kristen and I was excited to find an al-anon support community online! A bit about me - I'm a recovering alcoholic (and active member of AA), been sober since June '08. My husband of one year is also an active member of AA with 2 yrs of sobriety. He is also diagnosed and being treated for bipolar disorder, which I why I came seeking this forum and why my AA sponsor has suggested attending some al-anon meetings. Clearly I have much work to do in terms of trying to control his behavior and moods, and how I allow them to affect me - much like trying to control the behavior of an active alcoholic! He has been in a low period and working on getting meds adjusted, which can definitely be a trying time.
I will be attending meetings in person (I've already found a few in my area and tried one out) but working full-time, attending AA meetings and having a toddler (our daughter is 15 mos), I thought it would be nice to find some virtual support as well. I am hoping to use this and my al-anon related reading (I have a daily reader by Hazelden as well as the al-anon book) to supplement whatever meetings i can get to.
Thank you for being here, and I hope to become an active member of this board!!
I have a 15 month old son - they are so much fun at that age! I hope you are enjoying every minute with your daughter. ;)
This is a great forum and a great place to be. I too struggle with simply finding the TIME to attend face to face meetings. I generally try to make 2 a week, but I'm on here every single day.
