Help For Veterans with PTSD

My AH is a Vietnam vet and has been diagnosed with PTSD.  He has recently learned that there is compensation available from the VA for this, and we are in the midst of applying for it.  Supposedly, it will also be paid retroactively to the time of the diagnosis.  We are talking anywhere from $132 to $4,000+ per month, depending on the degree of disability and family situation.

For so many of us struggling with finances due to the A's addiction, this could be a God-send, and I thought I'd pass it along in case it applies to anyone else and you want to investigate it.  It can be applied for online at the VA website, va.gov - go to Veteran Services and look for disability compensation.

Hi

Thats great news and I keep my fingers crossed for you!

I am ex British Army and my eldest son is now serving. I am involved in running two London based Forces Charities and get a great deal of satisfaction from putting something back in.

I have several friends both serving and out the Army with PSTD and they face a daily battle to cope and live with it. It took years for our Government to recognise the condition and with Iraq and Afghanistan casualties coming home on a daily basis the demand for treatment centres and counsellors has never been greater.

God bless all our brave servicemen and women along with our brothers in arms in the States.

Hi I suffer with PTSD and have always sympathised with those in the services, my hubbys grandfather was a prisoner of war in second world war, he too suffers from PTSD and knows too well the struggle to survive everyday, I understand the complexities around trying to prove to a government that this exists and affects us everyday, God bless all those servicemen.
