I experienced a wonderful unexpected gift of this program today and thought I should share. I live in a huge apartment complex in NYC that has a 24 hour security staff and coverage for all emergencies. I walked out this morning and the door slammed behind me I did not have my key I went to the lobby and used the in house phone to call security They assured me that they would come and let me in and that there was a charge of $55.00 for the service. The last time I was locked out ( over 20 years ago) the service was free.
I agreed without a fight as I needed to obtain access and I have learned in al anon not to fight the buracracy.with people who are only enforcing rules.
I waited for about 20 minutes and no one showed I was becoming angry ( not my before al anon personality of enraged) I called security office again and they apologized for the delay saying they had" unforeseen emergences" and could not get to me They would be right to my home.. Again I agreed without a fight and in a few minutes the security office called me back and said they were on the way and because I had been so patient the $55.00 charge had been waived
I did not sacrifice my serenity and I saved mucho $$$$ .
Thank you al anon Thank you HP . It works if you work it
I'm happy it turned out the way it did. I have a saying that has always held true.
"It it never does you any good to lose your cool".
I can't think of a time in my life when losing my cool helped, not a single one. But, I can think of countless times that keeping my cool paid rewards in the long run. You proved that again today. Kinda reminds me of my favorite slogan...Don't React.
Thanks for the example.

(c: Bet ya make sure you don't leave your key again!
It's hard for me to imagine your living experience!I have seen it on tv but to live in a building with security is interesting! Can you open your windows? Sounds dumb but do you have bars or something? I am assuming you are up high?
Or?
You nut, bet it felt good to remain as calm as you could. They will remember you I am sure.
Thanks for sharing. Its funny as you always show your love and sweetness here. Cannot imagine you enraged! love, debilyn
You Are such an Example for this Program :0) I Wish My Cool was as Tempered as yours :0) I am Just the New kid on the Block so I don't want to "Project" but; Praying I too Can Get there Some Day...lol...
Myself i have always been a Country Girl, so Yeah I could not Imagine living in NYC, Even When I Ride My Harley, I make it a Point to Drive Around them..lol...They Intimedate me...lol...
Nor Could I even think you to be Enraged, Because you are such a Blessing here, and have been such a Support for Me, that I am Ever So Grateful for Your Friendship..
So Happy for you that it all worked out, and you got back in before your fuse blew :0) I"m still workin on that... Progress Not Profection
It does work when I work it and I can't work it alone or don't anymore. The consequences always contain that part where HP is working it and not letting me know just how. I get to say afterward "great how things turn out better for me and different than how I was led to believe they would when HP is involved". I am always wrong when I forget that my HP "is" and always "is" involved in my life. Go buy a poor person a sandwich with the money you didn't have to spend. LOL. Mahalo Betty.
I have always been the "shoulder" with bureaucracy and I know where that got me!
What a great gem to be able to accept the moment no matter how uncomfortable it is.
I once worked in a hotel and had to let in many a scantily clad guest who had locked themselves out! I know none of them were as gracious and accepting as you are.
