More excuses to drink

We are currently on a ski trip. Today is first day on the mountain. Ah issue very tired and sore. He said to me that he is probably going to stop drinking for good after we get back home because he is so sore that he "needs" to drink. I rolled my eyes at him out of reaction, not meaning to. Oops! Wonder what his excuse will be to drink when we get home. I know it will happen.

Until an alcoholic decides he has finished with drinking he/she  will always find a reason to drink.  We are surely powerless over this disease .

The best we can do is take care of our own sanity

Enjoy the trip.

Yup ... you hit the nail right on the head. There's always a reason to drink - drink to celebrate something good, drink because of anger or frustration, drink because it's raining, drink because the sun is shining, and on and on. There is every reason except the truth - which is just simply that alcoholics drink because they are alcoholics.

I hope you have an awesome trip! Wish I were skiing! :)

I am very proud of him. He didn't drink after all. We came back to the hotel, went to the hot tub, went to dinner, then went to bed. Of course that's not to say he won't tonight or any other time, but as for last night I am proud of him that he didn't.

We are having a great time in Colorado. We love it here. Its been snowing a lot. They got 6 inches of snow Saturday and it snowed all day yesterday, and supposed to all day today as well.

Kimmy :)
Welcome to Colorado! I've lived here my whole life, it truly is a beautiful state and we have been having great weather here in the city.
I'm so glad to hear you're having a good time and I hope the rest of your trip remains peaceful. He may or may not drink tonight or the rest of your trip, but that doesn't mean you can't have a good time yourself. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things go well and that he'll stop trying to 'snow' you with ridiculous excuses to drink! (eyes rolling, lol)

Well AH drank last night. Don't know how much, nor do I care. I wasn't around when he drank. He went to the restaurant that is here at the hotel, and I was upstairs resting because I didn't feel well. I came down a bit later to see what him and the kids were up to, because he originally was going to play pool with the kids in the library that is in the hotel. I went to the library, kids were playing pool and AH was sitting on the couch in there talking to a couple of guys. I came over to sit next to him, and he pulls me to him to cuddle with him. He reeked of beer. I didn't say a thing about it. I just laid there cuddled up next to him, enjoying him holding me in his arms, and enjoying that we are in our favorite vacation location. We absolutely love Winter Park, CO, and we have a long term goal of moving to Denver in a few years. So anyway, I did my best to detach and enjoy the moment, and I feel like I succeeded. I didn't let his drinking get me down.

I know once I return from vacation I will definitely need my f2f meetings. I always knew that my f2f meetings were important to me, but I am realizing how important they are to me since I won't be able to attend any this week. I wish I could find a meeting here but they are too far away, and I don't know my way around here and I don't know how to drive on snow packed roads, since I am a Texas girl, and we don't have this kind of road conditions there. I am just thankful I can access MIP from my phone.
