I am 22 year old young girl and I have some severe issue with my smoking habit. My mom wants me to quit it,I really dont know how to. I feel depressed and lost when I try stopping it for a day even. I wish I get out of this deadly habit soon. Pls advice.
I downloaded an audio by Alan Carr called The easy way to quit smoking. I listened to it twice and didn't pick up a smoke again. I tried to quit smoking more times than I can count, tried all sorts of things and none worked. I was grumpy and all over the place. I too used to feel depressed as well, just because I felt like I was actually missing out on something. Alan fixed that pretty quickly.
When I used Alan Carr, I didn't crave, get grumpy or miss it. I was actually happy when I quit and I wasn't a problem at all. I was amazed and would recommend it to anyone. There is a book too, but that was too slow for me and I couldn't read it doing dishes.
Cigarrettes are some of the most addictive things on the planet or so I have been told by other smokers. My mom quit cold turkery, she made up her mind and had reasons to do it, so I would say look at your reasons and motivation and focus on that.
I know for me, to change anything, I cannot just simply stop doing that thing - I need to develop other things to do, so I can re direct myself onto something more productive and constructive for me - like working out or eating healthily or taking a walk or walking the dog or go volunteer and help others in some way.
Habits are what we end up doing in the day, repeatedly. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so do it one day at a time, every time u want to smoke, go put 5$ in a jar and save that money up and then u can do something great with it - instead of slow suicide and second hand smoke to others.
Focus on what you can do and seek solutions and not the problems and it is gets better.

Stopping smoking is very very difficult. I smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for 30 years. Nothing worked patches, hypnosis, 12 step nicotine program etc.
I have been cigarette free for over 14 months now without even a craving
I used the prescriptionR " Chantrix " It is not a nicotine pill and you can smoke with it. It took me 2 months to stop but it worked
In addition, It was covered by my health insurance plan
Go for it! It is a highly addictive substance. I quit November 18, 1981 after 11 years of smoking. I took a class called "Smokenders". I don't know if it exists or not now. It was helpful to have a support group and to learn why I smoked in the first place.
