second al anon meeting, lusaka, zambia africa

hi all

i promised to keep you posted so i am.had the second ever (to my knowledge) al anoon meeting in lusaka, zambia. the 2 people i was expecting couldn't make it. one was sick and one was tied up at work. however i still had a good time. i gave some literature to the landlords and also a lady who lives in the premises.i stayed in case someone might show up late. i read the recovery paths book and had a nice chilled time. i am as determined and ever to carry on. i contacted both poeple i was expecting (in the past i wouldn;t have) and they both say they should be able to make it next week. then i got a call from one of them later in the day to check how i was doing and encourage me. that was great. i felt so cared for. what a great family al anon is. and then another friend called to find out how the meeting had goine. i explained and she was encouraging too. i am upbeat still and so determined to do my part. rest will leave with HP.just wanted to share with you.

greetings from hot lusaka, zambia

meg

Dear Meg

It does  takes time for a meeting to catch on.  I began one several years ago and for a few months it was just myself and  the other co chair.  We did, just  as you did this past week .  Slowly and oh so  gradually one person showed and returned, then another and then another.  Within 6 months the meeting was flourishing.

You are a wonderful example of program inaction  Thanks for being here.

You have the right idea Meg use that hour to read put your feet up and enjoy the silence , dont take thier not showing personal . When starting a new meeting it takes time for people to add it to thier week so patience is a must .  I sponsored Alateen here yrs ago and often no one showed for weeks so i would take my fav book read for an hr no interuptions no phones ringing and no one wanting me to get something for them..  enjoy louise
