Just another normal rescue...sheesh

Thought I would share this letter I had written just now to my friend in Louisiana. love mom,deb

I was outside putting med in Arni big pigs eye. swollen. We were on the south deck. Then I started picking up all the railing I took off the deck and moved it to a pile. Put a tarp over it, will reuse it.

Put all the dogs in but Sauvie. He was barking at the far south corner of the fence at some dog clear a mile away at the river. ??? sounded like a smallish dog, i was thinking   Beagle.    Sauvey is my Great pyrenees.   .

I watched sauvie, he was frantic, barking back and forth I knew there was no house there where the barking and crying was coming from.

crap. I got my old overalls on and my heavy outside slip on shoes, grabbed my needle nose pliars....seem to be such a good tool for me.

I walked to the river thru the brambles, blackberries. not real awful. got closer dog is going nuts. It is on the other side. crap. This is an outlet from the main river.

I had to go back up to my car, drove to the neighbor who has a bridge there, metal gate shut and locked. NOthing stops me. sigh. On the other side of this huge gate is fence that is heavy metal. below is bad brambles steep to the deep raging outlet/inlet.

I swung around the metal fence, praying pulled myself up and over. I did not look down.

No one was home. crap. so had to go thru a gate to get to where it was. OH probably an acre away. walked to where it was, dang strong barb fence twelve feet up up brambles, thick thorny black berries. I prayed for a way in, got about where he was, there was a a GREAT place I could actually step over the barb and did not get stuck.

Then the thickest bramble/blackberry thorned vines I am not kidding three quarters of an inch wide. Then tiny trees and big trees. So I used my pliars and made my way back in. water right there about fifteen feet from the fence.I heard what sounded like a big dog sorta growl. Oh great.

I had to go about twenty feet to get into him. Then I see a black lab!She can sorta get to me. I get her up over these low downed tree branches, then hear the other dog, a French Bulldog! He is so so happy to see me. Was stuck way under the mess. Blackberries are impossible to get thru especially down low where there is so much dead wood.

Anyway got the lab up, then the little dog hopped up, gads so sorta helped them both at once down to the trail I cut thru. They made it out! took off. lol I thought oh great I will get stuck here alone. no phone. dummy.

So bloodly torn overalls scratched, blood running down my face I am out. I yell for them, then whistle and they tore to me. The land there is acres and acres of nursery.

I had thought to grab a twine off my alfalfa in my car. So tied her. the lab an he the Bulldog followed her. got to the gate. now what? locked. I tied her to the gate at a place I thought I could slide her thru. climbed back around...got her and him in my car. Went to a house by there, nope. Met a nice neighbor. Went to another house about a mile away. nope. then drove and stopped and asked a guy who was at his mailbox. nope.

drove back thinking and reassuring them I had a nice house and would find their home. Asked Jehovah if he would please guide me. There was a young girl walking to her mailbox. I thought I better ask her. I stopped and said do you know these dogs?? she said YES they are my dogs!! She started yelling grampa grampa!

He came out, nice country home. So met Dick Musket. (c: he has six grand kids living with him, all girls!Grama died a year ago. he was so happy. told me how Missy black  lab jumps the fence then Winchester, French bulldog follows thru the cattle panel fence holes.

He asked if I wanted some apples. I was thrilled, he says you have a bucket right there! I said yes my mobile barn here.. haha

We talked and picked apples. asked him about his wife. married fifty three years. Bless his heart. Made me think of Dad.

told him about the lifesavers I make for my dogs. tried to explain. But said Oh I will bring ya one. They are hangers I break the hook off, wrap duct tape around the middle to make wings then add ties to tie around the dogs neck and under behind their legs. then they cannot get out the fence holes.

came home made Winchester one out of a color crayon blue plastic hanger with soft angora ties.....took it back. He was thrilled. the girls came out so I showed them Fezzick my Pom, modeled for them. they will now put it on Winchester...he won't be able to get out and MIssy won't leave him. They were at least two miles from home.

I am a bloody mess and I swear those dogs did not have a scratch. I sure don't get how they got back there at all. Unless the idiots crossed the outlet. I doubt that.

I told Sauvey he did a major good job. Another rescue for him. He does know his territory and he is the boss.

I thought about youStephen, how I know you would be there, but smart enough to bring loppers or something... plus you are tall. Which I am not sure would help. thought How i wished I brought a board. you can lay it on black berries and brambles then stomp it down to break a trail.

My kids and i made our own trail thru stuff when they were little.

i honestly feel God with me Stephen. I asked him to help me the whole time. Then I said thank you but could you maybe make the blackberries not stick me so badly???

oh well. Those dogs faces when they saw me, so precious.

Probably won't be walking tomorrow....I was thinking I am sure glad I am not eighty. it would not have stopped me.

so who would want a nut like this? I even said once as I was talking to the dogs as I broke thru, you are fortunate I am not foofoo.
