Well we lost another young man in our community today....he was going to check into rehab here in the next few days but instead he checked out of life.
This beautiful young man was the tender age of 19. His name was Mike, he was a good kind hearted person.
The drugs took him away from his world, his mom and his son as well as his friends.
I don't know what else to say except please pray for his mom she is a wonderful lady and a friend of mine.
My heart aches for all those suffering from addiction, for all the family members walking down this awful path.
Life is such a precious gift from God and today I am thankful that I am here. I am thankful my son is here. It could have been him....he is doing better by the way and on his way to the army. Whatever it takes I say......he has not signed up yet as he has that dui to deal with. However, as soon as that is over which hopefully it will be Monday then he can get away from here and hopefully start a new fresh life. That is my prayer.
Prayers always...We trying to turn up the fire under our community to get some controls in place and since the community is part of my family also; I'm involved. Need prayers for courage and strength and persistence. Sad and hopeful.
Prayers for you and your friends andrea...your compassion in sharing this will certainly bring them healing. I believe we are all in the same community :) even though we may be far apart.
Horrible news Andrea, and very sorry for this loss....
I can't help but be reminded of the words I heard from an oldtime in AA - who was over 30 years sober - when we were driving here to a funeral of another A who had chosen to take their own life (or at least allow their addiction to take their life)....
"This is sad, but not surprising"
Alcoholism, drug addiction, etc - is a life or death situation - these events tragically reinforce that reality...
Take care Tom

Another sensless death so incredibly sad. As i hear of this disease taking person after person from us my fear grows for my own son. Who is a beautiful, kind and loving young man whom this disease has taken hold of. His dream too is to go into the Army but has a record to clean up yet he keeps sabtoging himself. My prayers..the last prayer i say each night before I go to bed is..... Asking HP to give each A all around the world just one moment of clarity to see where thier decisions have gotten them, to realise all the people who love them and to give them strenght to find recovery. It may sound silly but that is the last thing i ask of HP each night. I've no idea if any of those prayers have been answered but I am compelled to say that prayer anyway. Prayers to the mom who just lost her son.... may she find peace in her own HP Blessings
comfort and prayers sent out to Mike's family, his mom especially and everyone suffering from this tragedy and the disease world wide - may we all find peace in this world.
