I love the Courage to Change book!!! Reading this book lately has shown me how to have the courage to speak up when I need to instead of just stewing in the crap.
I have a voice too and when things are said or done that I either don't understand or appreciate I can say, "hey wait a minute, I don't think I liked the way that was just stated, it made me feel ______." Ask them to explain what they meant in case I read them wrong, which I do have a history of doing. This program is a program of honesty, being honest with myself has been the most difficult and humbling experience of my life.
It is so simple, why is it so difficult to do.
Also, I can let them know when I feel they are acting in a way that makes me feel uncomfortable. I forgot to listen to my gut, when it speaks to me it's usually something that I need to address.
Thank you so much for helping me understand and remember that I am not responsible for someone elses happiness. If they choose to not live life that is their decision. I choose to live life to the fullest I can, I only have one.
Luv and hugs to you all!!!
Alanon does work if you work it. You have to do the foot work!!!
I love that book as well! There is always something in there to help me out. I am trying to get myself back to a face to face meeting, my time is so very precious so it is hard to get there. I plan to go tomorrow night. Thanks for the inspiration!
Lovely post This is a simple program for complicated people. So you are absolutly right...we need to take what we learn then do the footwork. Blessings in your recovery
