Awhile back I posted and someone replied with information on how to look into getting a sponsor on-line. I'm having some trouble finding that information right now (I'm tired and can't remember the date.) Can someone please tell me what to do?
I appreciate everyone. I hope that you all can sense your Higher Power in your lives.
I like to be reminded that God can do for me what I cannot do for myself. That my Higher Power is beyond my limited (sometimes very limited) capabilities.
I do not know of the post you mentioned, but I'm happy to offer my experience, strength and hope to see if it helps
When I was looking for my face to face sponsor in alanon, I spent a good deal of time listening to other members contributions in our group. I started to learn more about each of them and began to form a view of what I might be looking for in a sponsor. For me, it was important that it was someone with a lot of program time, who had a similar set of circumstances to mine - that it they were living with an active alcoholic. Alanon also suggests they be of the same gender so that wires do not get crossed.
Once I found someone, I got up ther nerve, and asked. She said yes! It has been a wonderful benefit to me since I did that. So good to have someone to share my deepest concerns and gudie me gently in the program.
In an online situation, I don't think it is so different, except that instead of listening, you might be reading, instead of asking you might be pm'ing etc.
Can someone please tell me what to do?
