Heading out for the Family program...

My boyfriend (qualifier--we have known each other for a year and dating for 6 months) has been in rehab for the last 6 weeks and tomorrow his parents and I are flying to go to the family program.  I have spent the last couple weeks reading here, reading Alanon literature, attending meetings and really working hard on ME.  I am glad to be going to the program there, and will be really happy to see my bf again!  He sounds great, and I know that his real test comes when he gets done this Saturday.  I hope he continues to work his program and that he and I can move on from this.  I am not blind though, I do know that relapse can happen, for me or him.  My codependency issues have not been solved but I am working on it.  I have found a f2f meeting I love and will continue to go to that one and see about a few others after my big move in two weeks to my new apartment.  I feel very excited about my future, while I am living in the here and now.

In peace and many blessings to you all,
Maize

Maize,

I went back and read your first topic posted on MIP only 10 days ago. In response to someones reply you had a question. "Can someone please tell me what ES&H stands for"?.......10 days later you are offering your own ES&H by proving that the program works when you work it.

It only get better.

HUGS,
RLC

Maize...I also agree you have grown and I pray you will continue to.  Key your
right hand in your HP's, your left hand in your Sponsor's and the program will
have your back.  Now all you gotta do is go foreward.  I will keep you in my
thoughts and prayers.   ((((hugs)))) smile

Maize,

Good luck to you. I have previously participated in a Family Therapy program (twice LOL) and got a lot out of it both times. It's yet another reinforcement that we can only work on ourselves, which I really needed to hear just before my AH got out of rehab....My desire to protect/help reared it's ugly head many times. I needed all the reinforcement I could get to stay out of the way of his HP and his recovery.

Hugs, Rocky.

((Maize)))

Thank you for sharing your growth !!! I have attended several Family Programs and they are enriching and certainly worth while.

Let us know how it goes.

It is so rewarding to watch the newcomers come to this Board, begin to use the tools and grow with such wisdom and grace in such a short time

Thank you to all the newcomers (and all the members
)  who keep coming back
