I was reading in the Courage to Change book this evening and it was very interesting today. It talks of change and not having to rush it. Just identifying that you want to change is one of the steps. I feel so much better after reading that. I am working so hard at trying to change old habits that have been with me for many years, that I was becoming frustrated that it just wasn't happening fast enough. And that when the pressure is on, the old habits/reactions are just THERE. Now I realize that I can take all the time I need to change. It can't be rushed. It will happen gradually and will happen when I have decided that I am ready for it. Phew! It truly is "Courage to Change!" and one day at a time. I feel so much better now. This program is awesome in that it isn't judging, shows patience, and compassion when I find I need it most. Thanks for listening.
I agree. It's your change in your (and your HP) time. There are no musts in alanon. Rushing change, before you're ready is forcing solutions. I learned that my changes were in my (and my HP's) time. When I started yo hear "you should" or "I should" I realized I was not listening to my HP.
Hang in there courage to change is not as easy asi it sounds. However it can happen. I am praying that you find the courage and wisdom with in yourslef to do just that.
