Wow!

(((Family))),

Came across this quote from the Dalai Lama today:

"If indeed the qualities such as love, patience, tolerance, and forgiveness are what happiness consists in, and if it is also true that compassion, defined as concern for others, is both the source and the fruit of these qualities, then the more we are compassionate, the more we provide for our own happiness."

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Much love and blessings to you and your families, as well as all creatures great & small.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty heart.gif

Karilynn

I loved the quote. The more I reflected on the  meaning, I felt that the tools of alanon have lead me to the same conclusion.

The more true  compassion, forgiveness and  empathy I have for others, the more happinsess I have myself.

Before alanon I had a false compassion which was driven by my ego.  I was doing good, loving etc in an effort  to "look good or get others to like me or do what I wanted"

Alanon gave me the tools to truly love and care and forgive  WOW!! you are right.

Another Miracle of this program.

Thanksi

thanks ((( KL & pipers )))) I know this to be very true as I have seen in it my own life.

Pre-alanon, I tried to sacrifice myself to those I loved, thinking this was the way to prove and show my love.  I didnt know that I had no real clue of what resepct was or what love and forgiveness really was bc I simply ignored and neglected the me on the inside.

After doing the hard, terrifying work of self discovery through the process of loving me first and foremost, forgiving me as those judgements and unresolved pain comes up, learning how to work with myself and my natural tendencies and not try to erradicate or change that but to simply love and accept me where I was/am.
I started very small - with kind and genlte -bc- I knew what that looked like.  Self loving is self discovery.  Today with my healthy boundaries for my growth -- I have self resepct, respect for others, much more understadning and compassion -but- since the loving starts with me, on the inside -- I no longer loon out for validation, love, approval (or anything else) - it starts with me and with my copilot that I surrender my ego to often.

I am nothing, I know nothing - I am in this moment, loving god and the gift I was given.  This is the most valuable thing in my life and my source - that I surrender to and then look to see what positive, constructive change I can make.  Some days it is to do nothing, to pray, meditate, eat healthy and move around - some days it is an apology that begins with me.

I do know that with forgiveness -at any given time - one can turn it over, start over and begin fresh, rejuvenated and anew.  Forgiveness, love, patience is Divine -but I get to experience those things, when I practise them.
