I need some ESH, Please

I haven't been here in a reallly long time, and can't get to a f2f meeting for a few days.  I could really use some ESH today folks.

For some reason, I am suddenly obsessing about the A in my life - about whether or not he is drinking, etc.  I am literally making myself crazy.  It has been a very long time since I have been visited by this feeling of insanity, and I don't like it.

So, can you all give me some program words that I really need to hear right now?  I am travelling and don't even have my 'Courage to Change.'

Funny how it just blindsides you...

(((((((TLM)))))))))

It does have that sneak-up-on tendency!!!

Remember the 3 Cs: You didn't cause it; You can't cure it; You can't control it

I know that I do best when I'm focusing on myself. While you're traveling, is there a way to put the focus back on yourself? Favorite music? Good book? Long walk? Calling a good friend?

I try and do a gratitude list at least a few times a week; when I'm having trouble with it, I run through the alphabet- usually that gets me in a more positive mood.

Since you have access to a computer, why not come to the chatroom meeting(s)! smile.gif

Glad you are here.

God Grant me the Serenity comes to my mind...that prayer has carried me thru more times of termoil than I can count...

Deep breaths and remember day by day...sometimes minute by minute.

With Hope,
Andrea

Aloha TLM...your post brings back two things I learned early on both at opposite
sides of the detachment spectrum however both have worked for me at one
time or the others when I've obsessed.  Bud and the others hit on focus on
other things prayer, reading, gratitude lists etc...the other I learned was to
go with the obsession full on until I ran out of energy with it.  I know...the first
time I heard this from another member who was taught it by his sponsor I said
are you out of your mind?  Neither of us knew if he really was or if his sponsor
was but we all agreed that I was about to go out of mine with my addiction to
an alcohol/addict relationship (fliiiiiing!! fix, relapse, near emotional overdose)
and I was ready to try anything so he talked me thru it.  Fixate on the obsession
and take it as far as I could mentally and emotionally.  When that was done I
arrived at "I've had enough!!" all by myself and my obsession had no idea I
was even in the same city and she had just been evicted from my mind.

So that could be another way of taking care of it.  Mine was a guided tour and
it works just as well if you carefully do it with HP in attendence.

Lots of luck...In support.   (((((hugs))))) smile
