Says he's going back to program

AH is coming off of a pretty bad binge...I think b/c there is no more alcohol in the house...I've asked him to go back to program a lot of these last 6 -12 months.  (He binges a few days- gets sick- gets sober for a while then binges again).  Tonight he came into the room and said he was sorry ( as he was detoxing/ sweating) and that he was going back to AA "religiously".  I said thank you for your apology- when are you going to a meeting?   He says 'in a few days when I can walk'..I know he wants me to help him get over the detox- he always needs a lot of reassurance when he is this vulnerabl, but I'm feeling so resentful.  I'm not mean/ arguing, etc.  I've just been detached from him for this past week-but very lonely and sad.

Thanks sduff.   I know there are no answers other than to take care of myself which I'm starting to do again.  It's just all so hard.

Hi brb446 - don't think I've sent you a message of welcome yet, so WELCOME to MIP! This site has been amazing for my recovery, as I hope it will be for yours.

Can you get to a face-to-face meeting? I know that when I'm feeling lonely and sad, going to a face-to-face meeting helps so much. Seems like for me, the more I let myself feel lonely and sad, the lonelier and sadder I get and it's hard to get out of it. Getting out of my head for an hour with people that understand makes it worlds better for me.

Blessings,

Summer

White Rabbit has been in the program....knows what it has done of her...and knows what it can do for you....please give the program a try....there is no greater feeling than not being alone anymore....MIP and the rooms of Al-Anon is where you will get that feeling....we have all been where you are....we know the problems and pain this disease causes....keep coming back....and find a f2f meeting as soon as you can....you'll be glad you did.

I've been in the program for four years and I have only been late to one meeting....that was my first meeting.....I was approximately 5 years late to it. LOL.

HUGS,
RLC

Welcome to the MIP family.  I make it a point to never disagree with either White Rabbit or RLC.  Talk about strong people.  This is so hard to watch them detox.  When my AH was in recovery he got a phone call to go & sit with someone who was detoxing.  This person's wife was scared & drained my going through this time & time again.  My husband's home  group often went to a person's house to help them.  Who better to handle it than another addict?

You might think about calling AA & asking them to send someone who can help him.  Addicts tend to listen & trust another addict rather than another person.  That way you can get a break & get to your own meetings.  Just a thought.  Please keep coming back to us.  Much love & blessings to you & your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty <--the cat aww

Welome to MIP. You have already been given the best suggestions possible. Not much more I can add except to really urge you to work the program and take care of yourself.
Join us here for our online meetings also. You will likely hear your story over and again and how other have used the tools this program gives us to cope with this disease.
You are no longer alone
Blessings
