I just heard on the radio that today is the anniversary of the founding of AA. The DJ called for an alcohol free day in observance, I thought that was pretty cool. I don't know if it is truly the founding day but I will use it as a good excuse to put a bit more gratitude into my day. I am grateful for a program that has provided so many people with hope, eased thier suffering and brought joy in life. Thank you to everyone who makes these programs continue.
Yes.....Thank you Bill W. for starting the AA program, and thank you Lois for seeing the need and having vision for a program to help those affected by the disease of alcoholism.
Yes June 10, 1935 is the designated founder's day of AA. It's the date of Dr. Bob's sobriety, which is about exactly 6 months after Bill W's. I think they chose that date retroactively as founder's day because it was the birth of the fellowship, the first time it was successfully passed on to another alcoholic.

Very cool stuff..... Hmm... wonder if we should ask Karilynn whether or not this counts as an extension to National Donut Day?? :) Time to celebrate!!!

My sentiments exactly Sweet Stan...The greatest feeling I have is gratitude to my HP for placing the door of the program in front of me. Wowzers!! Does everyone know that Bill mentioned that he never thought that AA would survive without the existence of the Al-Anon Program? Now that's real enabling!! (((((hugs)))))
They call it Founders Day and there are celebrations all over about it. Many groups have a special founders day meeting.
When I first got in the program I couldn't relate much to the idea. Now I really have come to appreciate the early founders and I'd love to some day go to Akron and be there for a special day with so many people who are friends of Bill and Lois too of course!
