I just wanted all of you to know, my SUV is home and my A has gone fishing. I thought about not coming home, but I have two teenagers here and they deal with enough already. I had talked to one of our clients at the treatment center, an older wiser gentleman. He said "Mary just accept that you are powerless over alcohol/drug quite fighting it and accept it....." I went and visited a girlfriend and we talked in length. She was our roommate for 3 years so she knows a lot about us.
Of course he did his Friday night bar thing, came home hours later then usual. He said he doesn't know why he acts as he does. (With no prompting from me) Said he would take his car. Of course at 5 this morning as he was getting dressed I was wide awake. He very gently said, "relax honey, I am taking my car" Of course I couldn't relax until he left because you just never know if it will be a lie or not. But he did take his car and I went back to sleep, relieved.
So now I am out of here for the afternoon with my 14 yr old. We will do the grocery shopping and maybe buy a new video game as a treat for us. I shall spend the weekend watching movies and maybe open that Yoga kit I bought about 6 months ago.
Thanks for the update :) I am glad you got the SUV back and yes out kids sure do need us. It sounds like you are taking care of you and focusing on you right now. That always helps me. If we are not healthy first how good are we for our kids? Take care and keep on working your program. It works if you work it. your friend in recovery cdb :)
