WOW! I ran across this in one of my readings and this was the closing sentence. Wish I could remember which book. But think about it, after living w/alcoholism, raising families, being spouses---do we really do THREE nice things for ourself? ? ? Talk about self-neglect I have been practicing. dir!
Anyway, this was a light bulb moment for me on how I treat myself. I might do ONE nice thing for myself, but that was about it each day. The rest of the day was about other "stuff".
THREE nice things for ourselves--this could be an exciting EXPERIMENT for each of us! : )
Thanks for bringing this up. I think sometimes I have difficulty in believing I deserve good things in my life.
What I did for myself (right or wrong) was to take tonight off from work. (3rd shift) I am just so tired. And so tomorrow I will be awake and able to go to 12:00 pm alanon meeting.
Great Topic. When I was in treatment for AA almost 4 years ago that was one of the things we learn - to treat ourselve for every little step of progress - no matter how small.
It could be anything from a chocalate bar, Timmy's coffee, a walk , a bubble bath, just about anything as long as we treated ourselve. There is a long list & when I find it, I will post it for everyone to enjoy.
