"...Practice these principles in all our affairs"

Aloha Family...this morning while getting ready to park my truck before going to a
morning meeting I had an affair!!  LOL  Don't paint your own picture let me do it.
The affair was that while preparing to turn across the on coming lane into the parking
stall the person I had an affair with was exercising a choice that got him a consequence
I wasn't going to own though before program I certainly would have made a full
attempt at it.  A another male decided to accelerate his moped from where he
was to where I was about to make the turn and while I stopped because moving
forward would not be a good idea for me or more for him, he decided to stay on
the accelerator until his mind must have said, "Not a good idea dude!!".  No contact
with room for everyone to stay out of trouble but it was wet and he was fast and his
brakes finally made his line of travel wiggly and then down he went, with no protective
riding clothing so he got marked up just a little bit.  I parked got out, helped him
pick up a few things that detached themselves from his moped and checked for
the damage.  He was okay.  I told him I certainly would not have accelerated at a
larger object that I might make contact with when and if I couldn't stop on a wet
pavement.  Then I let it go after inventorying my part up to and including helping
and was grateful for the day from the second I woke up in the 3rd step prayer.  I
went into the meeting and got a cup of coffee and let the rest of the membership
understand that for me all was okay and that the person I had an affair with was
probably making his own choices.    He was.  5 cop cars, 2 ambulances, 1 firetruck
later it still was what it was and he passed me to take down my license number
saying "I would have been better had I not called them."   I had mentioned before
when he said that was his intention, "You gotta do what you gotta do" and left for
the meeting.  Swapped info with the police which reminded me I've got a expired
license I've gotta take care of an a bumper to replace (none of this having to do
with anything here) and thanked the police man for his courteousness.   Felt
compassionate for the other guy as it seemed obvious that he is one of the using
crowd that hangs out in that area and not a part of the local scenery.   Turned him
over to both of our HPs.

The program made all the difference in how life turns out for me now in comparison
to how it use to in the past.   Was able to listen and offer support part of which might
result in a new member at the Super Saturday AFG meeting.   Not my will (any of it)
but Thy will be done.

What happened to all of the fear and anxiety I use to suffer from?  Don't want any
of it back.   (((((hugs))))) smile

(((Jerry))
So very glad you are safe.  Placing princilples above personalities is a great tool

I never was able to do that before program because  I always put Personalities (Mine) before Principles!!!

I had many expectations of principles for everyone else but I always excused myself from the requirements.noSo glad I understand the value of principles

Thanks for your share

chuckles at your closing line . . . which reminds me of Alanon's guarantee "if you find Alanon is not for you, we will refund your misery (anxiety, worry, fill in the blank).

Thanks for ever-sharing Jerry.
