Jury duty

Okay, I got a new joke for my "Ya may be an Alanonic" material yesterday. smile

I had to go to Federal jury duty yesterday, 70 miles from my hometown.  All the way over there I am hoping very much that I don't get selected to be on the jury because I am on a deadline at work and missing two days for jury duty right now would require me to work this weekend and overtime to make it up.

So I get there, go through the process of orientation, get led up to the courtroom with 39 other potential jurors and we go through the question answering session.

We are then given a 15 minute break and return to see who will sit on the jury.  As they start calling out numbers I am still hoping not to hear mine.

And they don't call it out!!

And ya know what???  I get swamped with this immediate feeling of rejection!!! confuse What?  I'm not good enough to be on the jury huh????  For about 5 seconds...maybe 10 I actually sit there feeling like I am not good enough!

Then in a flash I realize what is happening here.....the old demons in the attic are trying to attack my brain, and I start to laugh at myself!

Sheese!!!

If ya have ever been called to jury duty, prayed not to be selected and then felt a deep sense of rejection when ya didn't get picked!  Ya may be an Alanonic!

Yep folks, I am in the right place.  I guess I will continue to keep coming back!

Yours still in recovery,
David

David,

Nothing better than laughing at yourself. Speaking of being an "Alanonic"------- I'm from "Ala"------- and I'm sure I'm a "Nonic".------- Therefore------- I "ARE" one too.

HUGS,

I was up for jury duty about 6 months ago. They told us if selected the trial would last approximately 3-4 days. They took about 50 prospective jurors to select the 15. I too didn't want to be selected but once the questions started my ego took over and wanted to be selected. It turned into a job interview. Turns out I was selected, the trial lasted 3 days and we acquitted the defendant.

Yep.... I can definitely relate.....

Even with my divorce - I definitely wanted a divorce, and wanted her to want the divorce as well, but I still wanted her to "like" me, throughout!!

Our minds are mysterious things somedays....  :)

Too funny!!  I also have jury duty right now.  I am serving a 6 month term, but it is only district court.  Nothing too interesting yet.  I keep waiting for us to get a DUI case so that I can tell the judge I cannot be impartial.  Ha ha!  So far, knock on wood, my # hasn't come up! biggrin
