I just wanted to share the changes I have gone through since starting to work my program. I am really taking the idea of taking care of me seriously. I have gone to a Dr. and had a full check up, which doesnt sound like much but the thought of doing that always scared me before..(better not to know type thing) I got a prescription for Chantix so I can stop smoking. Ive been filling out job applications so I can get myself in a more financially secure position.. the list goes on, but it all started with me coming in these rooms and learning what I have learned. It truly is like starting my life over and doing good things for me, all the while still trying to do what I must to make life what it needs to be with my A.
putting yourself and your life in order, setting the boundaries of what is and isn't acceptable is the toughest part of recovery. once you get into the habit however it is empowering and a huge weight off your shoulders. you will find that once you get the concept of putting boundries in place with your A you will also begin to notice how others around you may be putting on you a little, or taking advantage of your good nature. the whole concept of looking after me first, having boundaries in place and making of your life what you will is a skill we should all embrace with open arms to realise the richness and fulfillment life has to offer us if we are brave enough to create a structure. we all need direction and a purpose. without those two elements life seems to pass us by and before we know it we have missed out on many blessings that could have come our way.
pat yourself on the back for coming this far, keep reading and posting, and feed off the fellowship and knowledge here on this site and at the meetings you may attend.
