I heard a story this morning that I liked and thought I would share it with yall. Some of you may have heard it, but it was a new one to me.
There was this ant, a very hardworking, loyal member of the colony. He was always there toiling away carrying whatever load was needed of him. One day he was needed to carry a rather large piece of straw. That day he really didn't want to carry that straw, yet he hoisted the straw up on his back, and set off across a large expanse of hot concrete. The further he carried the load the heavier it got, and the more tired the ant became. He started to doubt if he could do it, but somehow he kept trudging on.
The ant then came to a crack in the concrete too wide for him to step across. Stopping and looking both directions down the crack, the ant could see that the crack stretched on as far as he could see. He knew he would die if he tried to go around the crack.
But then he had an idea. Taking the straw off his back the ant could see that the straw was just long enough to reach across to the other side of the crack. Laying the straw across, the ant carefully crossed over to the other side. And continued on his way back to the colony.
We all of us have our "straws" which we have to carry. And we really dont want to sometimes. Yet we can find a way to use our burdens to our advantage down the road to get us over the obstacles which will inevitably be placed in our path. We can do this by using the tools which we have been given by the program of Al-Anon and through the grace and love of our HP.
Awesome story david...thanks for sharing that! Just wondering...with enuf practice, can one get to where they can pole vault across that crack with that straw (pole)? hehehe
Grinningly yours, Kis

I sure enjoyed that story. But wasn't it the straw that broke the camels back? LOLOL I wish I would have read this post before I typed my post above about leaving Wed. I will sure have straw on my back. I will rely on HP for his help and take one moment at a time. Hmmm, wonder where the saying came from..Now that is the last straw,,, LOL cdb :)
((((((((((((((((((david))))))))))))))) What makes that little old ant think he can move a rubber tree plant anyone knows an ant cant move a rubber tree plant, BUT HE GOT HIGH HOPES HE GOT HIGH HOPES HE'S GOT HIGH APPLE PIE IN THE SKY HOPES, SO WHEN YA THINK THAT YOU JUST CANT JUST REMEMBER THAT ANT OOPS THERE GOES ANOTHER RUBBER TREE PLANT!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Dave we can move mountains cause we work it ODAT thanks for sharing LOVE ya lots ((((((dave))))) always cloud
Great reminder that we are never given more than we can carry in life. Also that we sometimes have to look deep within those trying times to find the good. Thank you for the reminder

Ahhh...yes my friend I too have carried my "loads of straw" in the past. From being married to an alcoholic, to an addict daughter, to being homeless to living with abuse. I think HP stuffed it all in a short period of time so hopefully I would get it all over in one shot...teehee. But the important point of this is that I gained something from each tragedy. I too learned that in adversity that something good can come. Also because HP has an unlimited imagination where mine is limited, I can see HP suggesting a solution such as "pole vaulting" that crack in the cement or possibly finding a ninja disguised as a ficus tree to help him across the crack...teehee. Great story my friend...thanks, SenoraBob
