i have been reading some posts and would like to know...what is the definition of an addictive personality? how do you know if you are attracted to one? how do you know if you are one yourself? the reason i ask is that i have been married 3 times now,,,,hubby no1 was a very violent paranoid schizophrenic and nearly killed me twice! hubby no2 was obsessed with having been adopted and was really insecure and suffocated me with his constant needs. and hubby no 3 has A probs. I remember reading a book once called Women who love too much while i was in therapy for my depression and i vaguely recall similar issues women had been through. In each case the woman had set themselves up for failure as they had tried to fix people who didn't want to be fixed. Is that the attraction? We think we can mother them back to good health? If so...i think my previous therapy and the lessons i learnt from it will be of enormous help if i apply them to my situation now. Detatchment was one of the lessons learnt. Also...self preservation. Do what is right for me!
i understand completely where you are coming from on that score.....i guess i had not realised fully what a bad effect the stress was having on me until i left. the worry lines are all but gone from my forehead, i am sleeping better, i am eating better, and i feel more in control of my own destiny....that has to be healthier doesn't it?
