The Alanon family groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience , strength and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoolism is a family illness and that chaged attitudes can aid recovery.
Alanon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity,organization, or institution: does not engage in any controversy: neither endorses or opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Alanon is self supporting through its contributions.
Alanon has but ONE purpose to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the twelve steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.
Please let us all remember this is "Alanon chat", and there are many who come here to get help that they desparately need, lets keep it as such.

This is the quote from the top of the page Gardengal. AlAnon may have only one purpose, but there are as many ideas, feelings, problems, and solutions as there are AlAnon members. My posts may not always be dyed-in-the-wool, straight-as-an-arrow AlAnon, but they are always from the heart, and offered in a loving and caring way. THAT'S what I think is important. If we all continue to spout the same ideas, feelngs, problems, and solutions, there would be no need for this board or any other like it. Progress is made by thinking people who once in a while have a brilliant idea.
"Take what you like, and leave the rest" is the one AlAnon slogan that should be remembered always.
There must be a misunderstanding, I was not referring to this board, however I was referring to the alanon chat itself. After reading "Dori's post, I felt the need to post this. Dont get me wrong, I understand this board is not all CAL. Thanks for pointing this out.,,,,,,,gardengal
Correct me if I am wrong, but I feel a need to reply here. I think what gg is referring to is not talking about another 12 step program in detail during meeting times, is that correct? As I have often shared in the room, I am in more than just Alanon due to my addict having multiple addictions. But I am respectful and of course do not go into specifics (I wouldn't anyway). However if someone asks me more about the other addiction I may share more about it, AFTER the meeting, or also on this board. So that is my take on this subject.
