I am looking to attend an Al Anon meeting, and have never been to one before. Can I just show up to one, or do I need to attend a beginners meeting first?
Hello and welcome , just show up is great . If there is a beginners group in your area give it a try , if not any meeting will welcome you with open arms . good luck Try several meetings in your area and pick a couple where u feel comfortable . go with an open mind and just listen if u choose not to speak tha t is ok too . Yes, all you have to do it show up. You will be welcomed by caring people who are walking in your shoes, and guess what ? You will not be alone anymore. I am proud you are taking the step. You won't regret it.
Keep coming back to MIP, and be sure to tell us about your first "face to face" meeting experience.
Awesome stuff... you will be welcomed at any meeting - newcomers and oldtimers alike.... there is a common bond at most meetings, that you cannot find elsewhere - not even here. Congrats to you on taking this really important first step...

They certainly do welcome you with open arms and love you from the start even if you are naughty. I was naughty but they let me stay for a couple of meetings and then I left and then I came back and was nice more than naughty. I'm still more nice than naughty and boy can Al-Anon help you grow up.
