Tribute To My Brother

To all my MIP family,

 I would like to inform you that my brother Ray loss his 6 month battle with cancer this past Thrusday. He fought a brave battle which was no  surprise to me. He was given a military funeral and buried Saturday in the town where he and I were raised, Newton, Mississippi. That is what he wanted and what he deserved. My brother left 4 children a loving wife and one brother who was, and will always be so proud of him.

When I called him on Veterans Day to wish him well and thank him for his service I asked him a question that I had never thought of until that day. I asked Ray how many soldiers did he know of who had served in three branches of the military? He served 3 years in the Marines, and after two years decided to re-up and go airborne with the 82nd Airborne Division, from there he applied and completed his training and became a member of the Elite Specilal Forces. His answer to my question was what I expected. He told me he had never thought about it, then he paused for a second and asked if I knew the first time he ever went to Florida? I told him no, and he said it was during Special Forces training when they made a night jump landing near the edge of the Everglades. Nothing like going to Florida for the first time jumping out of an airplane at night.

Once a Marine always a Marine-----The Few the Proud----- He did not consider himself anything special, but his brother sure did.

Your brother was a true american who loved  his family and country. I am so sorry for your loss and do  know how you will miss him.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear brother.  There is no other bond like that between siblings, and I know you are going to miss him.  All in good time your sadness will turn to smiles as you remember the happy times.
