Freedom

Last thanksgiving I spent weeks preparing to cook a meal for people who could have cared less.  Of course they expected it since I have always worn my heart on my sleeve.  None of them thanked me, praised any specific part of the meal or even took into account what effort it was.

This year I have been freed from the compulsive people pleasing.  I did not fal into a chasm of loneliness I did not feel lost, abandoned or any of those things.  I walked through it and in fact feel a whole lot better being without that bitter resentment to plough through.

Maresie.

This time of year is tough.....for too many years I've tried to keep it the way it's been expected...this resulted in physical an emotional collapse last Xmas, I have no plan to go there again.... I have no expectations.... the fear has gone....what will be will be.

Well done on letting go of resentment.....true growth.

I remember your Thanksgiving story from last year, and wow - that is such wonderful progress from just one short year ago....  It IS really freeing, isn't it.... good on ya!

Glad it was a better year, Maresie. It does feel good to just accept all as it is with no expectations.
