I hit (2) F2F This Weekend, and boy did I need them both... I can tell from were I am the More the Marrier till I survive these up coming Holidays...
Our Friday Nite was Bigger then I have ever seen in almost a year, so that had me excited, and my Sunday one which is usually Super Small.. (3-4) even had (2) New faces... For me I seem to get excited when there are MORE Newbies... I think more so because I attend "Al-anon" and not ACOA... (Which I am, But NEED Both)... there is only (1) ACOA in my neighborhood and it is held thru the work day, so when I see new people I get excited to share in their experiences and my own...
It is amazing to me how, just making those meeting this weekend, I feel some what "Healed" a little more... I had missed them for almost (2) weeks, and my drama showed it... I guess the reason I am rambling here is to say this...
If you are New to the Program, and this is your own source then "Keep Coming Back", BUT... If you can find a "F2F" (Face to Face) Meeting in your area... Please do... I was always told to give (6) Meeting before you decide if it is for you or not... And believe it or not, I was ready to pack it in on #5... But Kept my Commitment to 6 and sure enough, that 6th meeting... Has Kept me "Coming Back" for almost a year now... The people that I meet in these meetings are of a Differant Callabor of people... One of my closest "Recovering Friends" has been in program for 23yrs... And she still "Keeps Coming Back" to share and care for the sake of the others there...To me that is admorable... The people I have met while in Recovery, have been Kind, Caring, and compassionate, Gentle, & Loving to me when I need that, they have not pasted judgement on ANY thing I have ever shared or been bothered by... And in times when I really need just someone to Listen and HEAR me... They have never turned their backs... Its amazing to me that I get more Love & Commpassion from my Recovering Family "Here & THere" then I do from the ones I am Blood related too...
I was brought up to believe that Blood is thicker then water... And Family should ALWAYS be there before anything or anyone else... Since recovery I have found that not to be the truest statement for me... Were my "Blood" lacks in self knowledge, My Recovery Family "Gets Me" that is something I haven't had in my life untill I was led down this beautiful journey of life thru the eyes of Recovery....
So Thanks Your MIP... Thank You to ALL F2F Groups that get together and Care and Share their lives... I am one of the GRATEFUL... And doin my Best to Live thru the Eyes of Recovery... One Day @ A Time :) Thank you all for caring enough... To KEEP COMING BACK... With out you... Many of US would STILL be Very ALone in the world... Thank you all for your commitment to Al-Anon/ACOA/AA or what ever your creed... For I am Slowly learning the tools I need to Live a Better Life, and Rejoyce in a World That was once a Very Dark & Dreary kind of existants...
Love, Hugs, And Prayers to Each & Every one of you that invest your time, to Nurture us "Newbies" and show us a better way of living for Ourselves instead of our Alcoholics :)
Thanks for reminding me that this program is a fellowship of equals.. The newcomer and the person around for 20 years each contribute to the growth of the whole.
I am always in awe of the depths of this program and the growth it provides to all who "work" it.
Thank you Josie. I love having newcomers come into my home group. Many are desperate for relief from thier pain and hollow-eyed. But watching them find the hope I have found is amazing. In just a couple of meetings the dark circles disappear and they start to realize that they are not alone.
It only gets better from here.
Keep coming back. It truly works of you work it.
In recovery,
