Hi - just like you to know that Al-Anon is alive and well in South Africa

Good day:

I am Lawrie, a grateful member of the Weltevreden Park Al-Anon Family Group. Weltevreden is a residential suburb about 20-km outside of Johannesburg on the West Rand. We meet Tuesday nights from 19:30 at the local Methodist Church. Our numbers vary. This week we were down to six people but nevertheless had a productive meeting.

Hi Lawrie... glad you've found us, and really nice to hear that Al-Anon is working well in South Africa..... I'm Tom, from Canada, and there are people at MIP from many countries throughout the world....  Always amazing how similar our stories/issues are, regardless of who we are or where we are from...

Take care
Tom

I just joined ! I am a member of AA and I write to a friend in Pinetown, SA. I need support here as I find supporting my fellow AA has reminded me of how I have the same problems with my family. I want to fix them when actually they need love instead. I understand the concept of release with love but to apply it in all of my relationships has me back to step 1. I start focusing on their stuff. I keep catching myself giving advice when I can only help by sharing my experience strength and hope. I want to connect with others from this area and understand better SA in particular and what resources are available to someone in Pinetown? She has parents and children and ex-spouse alcoholics in her life and history.

Aloha Lawrie...from the Pacific.  My home group is the Wednesday Night Turning
Point Al-Anon Family Group in Hilo Hawaii.  Like yourself the quality of our meetings
isn't about the quantity.  Our numbers will vary from 4 to 16 as we continue to
work for our own serenity.   It's good to hear from family in South Africa.

(((((hugs))))) smile

My partner celebrated 11 years in the other Fellowship this August so I guess I've been around Al-Anon for a few years.
